Carol Moog played harmonica for
many years before forming and playing with No Alibi Blues, a band which
quickly developed a loyal following at some of the area’s top music
venues. Beginning in 1987, Moog backed up Zan
Gardner, a popular Philadelphia artist and played harmonica with the original Zan Gardner Blues Band. The band appeared with
such blues legends as John Lee Hooker, Koko
Taylor, Junior Wells, Buddy Guy, Jimmy Rogers, Leon Russell/Edgar Winter,
John Mayall and Roy Buchanan.
In her acoustic blues work, Moog has appeared with such notables as Saffire, Ronnie Earl, Guy Davis, Kelly Joe Phelps and
John Hammond.
Among her musical influences, Moog includes Sonny Terry, Little Walter,
Sonny Boy Williamson, Paul Butterfield, Hank Crawford, Fats Domino, Mose Allison, Muddy Waters, Dinah Washington and James
Cotton.
Over the years, Moog has played Riverblues, Super
Sunday, Mellon Jazz Festival, corporate events such as QVC Pioneer Studios,
Philly Gold Awards, and plays regularly with bands and duos at many of
Philadelphia’s finest music rooms, such as Warmdaddy’s, Tin Angel, and Rock
Lobster.
